Just thinking....was it that long ago we thought like this?

'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.'- Ronald Reagan

'I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.' -Ronald Reagan

'The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'-Ronald Reagan

Yeah, I miss him.....

Happy Boxing Day!

No, it's not a day to honor Muhammed Ali or Joe Frazier, it's the holiday celebrated in the British Commonwealth the day after Christmas. The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Greenland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and countries in the Commonwealth of Nations with a mainly Christian population celebrate Boxing Day.  In South Africa this public holiday is now known as the Day of Goodwill.

Also known as St. Stephen's Day, Boxing Day dates back to the Middle Ages.  St. Stephen was known for giving money to the poor, so traditionally, churches opened their boxes of alms and gave to the poor. It is also known as "The Feast of Stephen" as St. Stephen was the first Christian martyr.  Think of the words of the Christmas Carol, Good King Wenceslas.

Today, Boxing Day is a time for sports, shopping and traditionally, a day of tips for milkmen, postmen, seamstresses---a Christmas bonus for the hard-working people among us.

So, in tribute to my dear friends Dave, Phil K., Christine, Ian, Simon, Daryl, Phillip, Bryan, Samanthai, and you too Kara, Happy Boxing Day!

Merry Christmas!

Sitting under the mistletoe
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.

Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen - and kissed me there.

Merry Christmas!
or...you could just see what's on the television!
